The theme of the conference was contemporary images of holiness. Some 40 scholars from 14 countries and diverse Christian backgrounds gathered in Prague to share, discuss and exchange perspectives on holiness in different Christian traditions. The conference consisted of a mixture of key note speakers and short paper sessions. The key note papers looked at different aspects of understanding holiness today, whilst the short papers focused more on particular issues and authors related to the topic of holiness. This gave the conference its particular dynamic of moving between the more general and the more particular in terms of engaging with the holy and holiness. The experience of diversity was in itself a compelling image of holiness. The first two days of the conference were hosted by the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University, whilst on the third day we travelled to Poličany, to the Trappist convent of Our Lady on the Vltava. We had input on the current forms of monastic life and were able to participate in the daily prayer of the Trappist sisters and we also held one of the conference sessions in the monastery. On the last day of the conference we were at Jabok College, where we had Sunday liturgy and our final session.
